CENTROSEIS
I feel humbled and honored when other people say that I have created a lasting legacy to Centro Escolar University. But the truth is, I don’t see myself as a sole brain behind this event. No, I’m not. I cannot do this on my own. It is a team effort from each one of us. Most especially, it is a legacy of all the alumni here from 2012 up to this day who bravely left their comfort zones in the four corners of the room to deliver passionately what true Mass Communication really is. You have showed the world that our chosen profession is worth celebrating. That’s the reason why I have called the ALUMNI OF CENTROMEDIA simply because I want to THANK YOU personally. From the bottom of my heart, in behalf of CEU Malolos, thank you for making CENTROMEDIA a huge success! Looking back, just have this thought na ang dami-dami pala nating pinagdaanan for five years.
We have shared a lot of memories together. May masaya. May mga tawanan. May mga umiyak. May mga napagsasaraduhan ng pinto. May mga pagkakaibigan na muntik nang mabuwag. Sleepless nights, pimples, long travels, pressure from the Prof, pagod na pagod na nga napapagalitan pa. May mga humahakot ng awards kahit sa labas ng CEU. May na-suspend. May mga nagmahal, at meron din namang mga naghiwalay. Lahat ng iyan nasaksihan ko sa CENTROMEDIA. To all those students na nasaktan ko ang ego, ang kanilang damdamin because of harsh criticisms, it’s nothing personal. Sometimes, it is by getting hurt that we learn what our true potentials are.
I am a living testimony that your experience here in CENTROMEDIA will not be easily forgotten. Because when I was in college, 10 years ago, the experience that I had during our CEU VideoFest is still vividly engraved to my memories. Yes, it was hard. I know that. I feel you. Especially for setting high standards as much as possible to our productions, nakakaubos ng lakas. And I understand that because I had been through that.
Ladies and gentlemen, this 2017 I am actually celebrating 10 Years of being an adult, being involved in the industry, since I graduated in college in 2007. That was the year that I started to embrace media productions as a profession. All these 10 years serve as one whole chapter of my life that molded me as a person, a chapter which taught me life lessons that are worth sharing.
But…
Like all other books that are divided into chapters, there is a chapter in my life that is about to end, and one of them, sadly speaking, is CENTROMEDIA. Maybe, just maybe temporarily. But there are things in life that no matter how you hold on to that, you have to give that up, in order to grow up. I will be resigning as a College Instructor both in CEU and FEU. I only have until December this year for both institutions. The decision has been made after looking at many considerations and one of them is to dive into a fresh new chapter that is about to begin in 2018. There are doors that are opening right now in front of my eyes, either here or abroad. There are doors that I will build to open if God’s will. And my gut feel says that, it’s TIME. It is time to write another chapter. A chapter when I would have become wiser, stronger than ever. My passion for media production remains, it is just that I am now ready to make it bigger. I am not expecting a storm-free life, but I am looking forward to a storm-proof life, either personal or professional, there is a huge difference. Through my new-found faith with the Lord Jesus, I believe and declare that “that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). So I know that there is a purpose why once in my life I served as Teacher for five years.

CENTROCINCO
From the time that Centromedia started in 2012, it launched my career as a college instructor interspersed with the advocacy of showcasing the potentials of Mass Communication students of Centro Escolar University Malolos.
Conceived from the idea of CEU VideoFest during my college days for both Malolos and Manila, it has been intentionally modified to more dynamic university-wide event that involves the patronage of the whole Escolarian community. The festival has become an arena of exhibiting knowledge, talents, and virtues of the future media practitioners.
From CentroUNO to CentroCINCO of Centromedia, five years of the festival wears its laurel of success. It’s not an easy journey, but walking on the path of tomorrow brings fulfillment that money can’t buy.
I do not claim that the success of Centromedia was solely rooted from my efforts. No, it’s not. The students themselves who surmounted the summits of challenges every year from each batch are the ones who deserve applause from the whole world.
That’s why I would like to shout out my gratefulness to all the MassCom students of CEU Malolos from 2012 to 2016 by presenting you this anniversary documentary special produced by the recent graduates of ABMC. This is also to acknowledge the support of my colleagues in the academe especially Dr. Flordeliza Anastacio, Dean Elizabeth Roces, and Mrs. Marietta Alvarez. To the parents of our students who entrusted their children to us; and to our guest speakers and judges who took time to share their expertise to the participants, thank you for inspiring us. To the Lord God almighty who made all of us victorious in this endeavor, we owe you everything.
As we watch this, let’s reminisce those moments of surviving Centromedia for it has been part of our lives that we would surely never forget.
I couldn’t promise to stay forever in CEU, but rest assured that the legacy of Centromedia is permanently engraved in the heart and soul of every MassCom student of CEU Malolos.
Thank you for not giving up.
And this has been Centrocinco, see you again next year!

Here we are again in this celebration of talents, skills, and passion for media industry. A pleasant morning to the respected Dean of the College of CELAS Dr. Elizabeth Roces, to the Mass Communication Program Head Mrs. Marietta Alvarez, to our dear faculty members. To all the students, guests, parents, and the participants, welcome to the Awarding Ceremony of the 3rd Centromedia Festival here in Cabanas Cinema!
Before anything else, like the tradition that we always do before we begin the screening, I would like to hear from the eight production houses who proudly present themselves and their masterpiece this morning.
Moving Beyond Excellence: Student Empowerment through Cinematic World
This is the toughest and the most challenging theme of this festival so far in its history. But I cannot deny the truth that the student empowerment has been very visible as the 3rd year and 4th year Mass Communication Students of Centro Escolar University-Malolos have pushed themselves to the limits to achieve the excellence beyond their imagination.
My dear students, look at you now! Aside from the stress, pimples, and eye bags that you posses right this very moment caused by the tiring projects and sleepless nights , look of what you have become! If you will just dig deep down to the bottom of your hearts, you will realize that the confidence level in you NOW helps you to take pride in our course- Mass Communication.
I hear some of you saying, “kapag sinabi nilang MassKomportable ang Mass Com humanda sila sa akin! Kung alam lang nila ang pagod, hirap, puyat na nararanasan natin!”
Well, that is very true! And no one has the right to contest that Mass Communication, like other professional courses plays a vital role in the social, cultural, and national development. And no one can belittle the significance of our profession to the achievement of the dreams of this nation and the rest of the world.
But as we prepare ourselves for the demands of the future, may you always be equipped with the right knowledge and attitude towards work. May the experiences that you had in one semester of TV Production, Photography, and Film give you the opportunity to discover more about yourselves when it comes to what you can do in relation to your chosen field.
For this year’s Centromedia, I must admit to all the people here in front of me that this batch has the most daring outputs so far for the past three years. This batch of photographers, documentarists, and filmmakers have the most adventurous courage to come up with the bold ideas on productions.
As we gather here in this event, we also celebrate the steadfast commitment of these students in the pursuit of excellence in everything they work on.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.” An old adage from Aristotle but timeless in its truthfulness.
To the parents, thank you for entrusting your children here in CEU Malolos. Through the concerted efforts of all the members of the academe, they are in good hands. Thank your for trusting your children to explore more about themselves. Through the huge support and literally huge amount of financial support for them, all of these have become possible. But of course, most importantly, thank you for dreaming with them and for believing in their dreams. Parents, here are the fruits of labor of your children! Thank you for celebrating with them!
To my dear students, thank you for the patience. Patience to meet all the requirements of this course and the patience for a kind of methodology that I use in teaching. Someday, really someday, you will look back and realize that experience is the best teacher, NOT ME after all.
To the people in CEU who took time to watch all the entries for the last three days, you never know how happy we are for your warm support. What we did is all for you, our dearest viewers.
To the Lord Almighty who guided us from the very beginning up to this very moment, thank you very much.
Congratulations and keep the passion for media burning in your hearts!

CENTRODOS
Wow! I am completely mesmerized as I look in each and every one of you. This is the first time that I see my students whose appearance are not totally stressed, not cramming for the deadlines, and most of all, relaxed and feeling better.
Good morning every one!
You are the best! You are the best if you know in yourself that despite all the hindrances and difficulties in producing a television program and short film, you still choose to come up with the best result that you can. As long as you know that you prioritize excellence in everything you do, no matter what they say, you feel that you are the best!
It is not about the awards. It is not about giving you flat one on your grades. Instead, this burning passion for mass communication brings out the best in you, which follows success and fulfillment with your chosen field as you choose to reach greater heights with your chosen career.
Who would imagine that you could host a 40-minute talk show and documentary? Who would imagine that you could direct a film? Who would imagine that you could edit overnight just to beat the deadline? And who would imagine that you could stay alive in one week without any sleep, or sometimes forgetting to take a bath? Who would ever think that you could run under the rain, crossing the streets with all the dirt on your faces, and even crossing the river or mountains just to get the best output that you want. All these experiences reflect that you wanted to discover the very best in you as you pushed yourselves to the limits and dared to stay out with your comfort zones.
As I always say to you, it is not just about production, it is all about the journey and how you look at it for the rest of your life. And yes, this is the kind of journey that you will take when you face the real world of media. And so when you are already there, you can say to yourself: “Yes I can!” Simply because you have already tried it while taking this course.
My dear students, you keep on telling me that I inspire you. But forgive me when I say that you are the ones who really inspire me. It is not about me. It is all about you. You inspire me to be more passionate to my chosen profession. Thank you for inspiring me. And be an inspiration also to other media practitioners.
We are very fortunate that this month we are celebrating 60 years of Philippine Television. We are looking forward for more decades to come seeing you in the production proudly doing their contributions for the more success of the industry.
I would like to thank the parents, friends, and guests who take time to accompany these beautiful students to celebrate with them, or maybe, cry with them. What we prepared for today are dedicated to all of you especially to our parents who sacrificed everything they can just to provide the needs of their sons and daughters for their education. Parents, these are the fruits of labor of your scholars every time they ask little amount or huge amount of money for shooting requirements, asking permissions when they need to stay overnight in their classmate’s houses, and asking permission when they need to go to the farthest places that you don’t imagine they would do it as students. This is it!
I would like to thank Dean Elizabeth Roces, Mrs. Marietta Alvarez, Mrs. Marian Bernardo and the rest of the CEU community for the huge support that they have shown us to make all these things possible. Just like me, they also wanted to bring out the best in you.
To the people in CEU who took time to watch all the entries for the last two days, you never know how happy we are for the your warm support. What we did is all for you, our dearest viewers.
To the Lord Almighty who guided us from the very beginning up to this very moment, thank you very much.

CENTROUNO
Welcome to the Centrovideo Festival 2012- The 1st Centromedia Festival.
Six years ago. I still remember the time when I was a MassCom student then here in CEU Malolos. Direk Ed Villarante, my prof in TV Production, announced that we would be joining the 10th CEU Videofest. Sa simula, I was a bit hesitant. I asked myself kung makakaya ba namin? Kaya ba namin makipag-compete? Kaya ba namin gumawa ng isang TV show?
But we still accepted the challenge. And besides, I had no choice. It was a course requirement after all.
We began doing the project for three months. I saw how my classmates and I struggled so much to come up with a project that we would be proud of. We faced hardships from the very beginning- from empty pockets to stressful deadlines. And yes, we finally arrived to the most awaited Awards Night.
To make the story shorter and more humble, CEU Malolos placed as over-all Champion.
That was six years ago.
Then I graduated. I applied for a job. I got hired by the Philippine’s largest network as well as my classmates in their own respective careers.
As I moved on to the next level of my life- being a career-oriented person with passion in media industry, I brought with me what I had experienced six years ago.
Choosing a career in TV production is a tough choice. It is not your 9 to 5 type of job. You will spend more than a day staying on the set in producing, writing, directing, and managing a TV show. More than half of your life will be spent inside the Television.
But every task had been easier for me, or for us. And Why?
Because six years ago, we had a chance of living inside the Television through one of the principles of Centro Escolar University which is “learning by doing.”
More than being a champion during that time, CEU equipped us with the right and best weapons to face the real world. One of these days, you will remember this day. You will realize that this festival is more than a project, more than a course requirement, more than a final exam, and most of all, more than a competition- but a kind of life that you will expect in the near future. A kind of life in the media industry that will need your patience, dedication for your craft, responsibility for your audience, and most of all passion for the industry.
And here I am now sharing with you what I had experienced a lil bit higher with what we had six years ago.
I would like to thank Mam Alvarez and Dean Roces for lovingly forcing me to accept the task as a Professor. They never knew how grateful I am for this precious opportunity.
And to my dear students, thank you for trusting me wholeheartedly. I pray that when you choose to work in TV Production or in any specializations in our industry, always remember, and always remember that part of your Life happened in CEU.
Thank you and goodluck to all the participants!
