The future of a dystopian world can be predicted here in the high concept of The Platform (Dir. Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, 2020).
However, the film is gruesomely more relevant today. It is a social parable that depicts how the greed is normalized caused by the current system dominated by capitalism and unequal distribution of wealth (food is the message).
Do you remember when most of the people unselfishly hoarded necessary commodities in the Supermarket these past few weeks due to an outbreak of a pandemic disease? They can clearly see themselves here like looking at the mirror.
But it’s more than that.
Applying semiotics, the connotative meaning of each floor represents the evolution of ‘the haves and have-nots’ in society. The more wealth and power you accumulate, the more tendency you become the oppressor shitting on the oppressed.

The lower the platform, the lesser dignity for humanity. We will kill and eat each other because there is no choice left for us.
The film is clever in using strong metaphors on various political ideologies such as communism and socialism and how they continuously fail because of how the status quo (hegemony) maintains oppression.
There is a glimpse of hope if I will be optimistic here.
The girl symbolizes the resilient and rebellious spirit of the youth who will someday end social injustice and all forms of corruption.
Revolution is the message.
