Without realizing it, you contribute in maintaining the status quo, the hegemony. You are accepting everything as if they are just “normal” in our society.
FRIEND: Bakit, ano ba ang dapat na “normal”?
ME: Not to be like you. That’s not normal.

Most of the time, it is not their fault why they are hopelessly mired in poverty and underdevelopment. The current system plays a big role in the creation of socio-economic divide.
Instead, change your mindset with this:
“Magsisikap ako sa pag-aaral para mas lalong maunawaan ang lipunan at maging bahagi ng solusyon.”
Achieving your dreams to be someone better than anyone else and look down on others is different from achieving your dreams to be better equipped in providing solutions.
Dream with purpose. Be an advocate of social change.
