First Tattoos!

I’ve got my first set of tattoos here in Buscalan Village, Tinglayan, Kalinga 🇵🇭 from the legendary Apo Whang-od, the last and oldest mambabatok, with her next generation of artists (traditional tattoo artists from the Butbut tribe).

1. “Traveller” – signifies my wanderlust spirit that gives premium to freedom and journey. It is a constant reminder that the good Lord will always lead me to the right direction.
2. “Arrow Head” – reminds me that I have to keep moving forward in the midst of adversity. Just keep walking.
3. “Three Dots” – this is Apo Whang-od’s signature tattoo, her way of making known her legacy and their tribe’s traditional practice. Also a reminder about my desire to learn more about history, culture, and life.
